Why Mopeds Work for Corporate Events

A day on mopeds solves a problem most team-building activities create: it doesn't feel forced. Nobody has to hold hands or share a personal anecdote in front of the group. You ride, you stop for lunch somewhere with a view, and people talk shop or don't — either way, everyone loosens up a little.

It also scales across skill levels. Riders who've never been on two wheels can take the 50cc SYM Orbit, while anyone comfortable on a bigger bike can take the Honda PCX 125. And because the group is doing something a little out of the ordinary together, it tends to produce better photos than a beach volleyball tournament — worth knowing if your company posts about culture and events on LinkedIn. Compared to chartering a boat or booking a coach tour for a group of fifteen or twenty, it's also considerably cheaper per head.

Why Nice Is the Right Backdrop

Nice has two things a corporate outing needs: decent weather most of the year, and a coastline you can actually ride. The season runs roughly March through October, and even outside peak summer the coast road stays comfortable for a half-day ride.

The city itself is compact enough that a group can gather, get briefed, and be on the road within twenty minutes. From there, the roads along the coast — the corniches above Villefranche, the climb to Èze, the run down into Monaco — are some of the most photographed driving roads in Europe, and they're just as good from a moped seat. Add in easy access from Nice Côte d'Azur Airport and the TGV station for teams flying or travelling in from Paris or Lyon, and it's a straightforward add-on to a trip that's already happening.

Fleet and Group Sizing

We work with two models, and most mixed groups end up using both. The SYM Orbit 50cc is the easier entry point — depending on age and licence, it can often be ridden without a motorcycle licence, which matters for groups where not everyone rides regularly. The Honda PCX 125cc needs a licence that qualifies (we cover exactly what counts in our guide to moped and scooter licence rules in France), but it's more comfortable at speed and better suited to the corniche roads.

Helmets and safety gear are included with every hire, and we run a short briefing before anyone leaves the shop. We regularly put together fleets from a handful of mopeds up to twenty or more, and can usually accommodate larger corporate bookings if we've got enough notice.

Sample Half-Day and Full-Day Itineraries

Half-Day

Start in Nice's old town, then follow the Promenade des Anglais along the bay before climbing out towards Villefranche-sur-Mer — about twenty minutes on a moped. Villefranche has one of the deepest natural harbours on the coast and a postcard view of the bay; La Mère Germaine, right on the port, has been serving lunch to sailors and visitors since 1938 and works well for a group. Afterwards, most groups ride back along the lower corniche, with an optional stop at one of the small beaches below Villefranche for anyone who fancies a swim.

Full Day

For a longer day, head up the Moyenne Corniche towards Èze — the medieval village perched above the sea, roughly 25 to 30 minutes from Nice. It's worth twenty minutes off the bikes to walk up through the village; the view from the top is one of the better ones on this coast. From Èze, the road drops down towards Monaco, about another fifteen minutes, passing Plage Mala if the group fancies a swim stop on the way.

In Monaco, we usually point groups towards the harbour — Port Hercule, lined with yachts, with a few easy options nearby for a group lunch (Stars'n'Bars is a reliable choice if you've got a mixed group). From there it's a straightforward ride back to Nice.

We can run either day as a structured route with a set schedule, or a looser "here's the map, meet back at this time" format — it depends on how much your group wants to be herded.

Practical Logistics for Organisers

Each rider needs valid ID and, for the 125cc bikes, a licence that qualifies (see the guide linked above). We run a safety briefing before departure covering the bikes, the route, and local traffic rules — the corniche roads are safe, but they're not empty, so this part isn't optional.

All hires include standard insurance; let us know in advance if your company wants to discuss extra cover for the group. For billing, we handle business and enterprise invoicing with SIRET and VAT details, so your finance team gets one proper invoice instead of a stack of individual receipts. For groups of ten or more, we'd suggest getting in touch at least two to three weeks ahead — earlier if you're planning for July or August, when the coast books up fast.
